Fused Silica is a high purity, synthetic, amorphous material. It is colorless, and can be made with very low impurities which make its optical transmission excellent up to UV region for UV grade. It is resistant to scratching and has a very low thermal expansion and high softening point. It is resistant to thermal shock and it has excellent chemical and mechanical stability.
